Emerald Art Collective in Springfield, Oregon, is proud to showcase a collection of Marian Angele's paintings as a featured artist for November 2025. This exhibit is premiering several all-new, larger abstract pieces that showcase her evolving, bold style and signature colors, plus a couple of favorite landscapes and emotive abstract pieces from her personal collection. Prints are available by order.

Artist Statement
After years of trying to paint in oils as skillfully as the great masters, at the age of 79, I discovered intuitive abstract acrylic painting, where one works to develop one's own “voice” or style. It was revelatory, and suddenly everything made sense. As an independent artist, I could express myself and my love of the world around me in my own terms. At that age, after a very full and eventful life, I have a lot to say. Now I explore my art with a new zest and feeling of exploration. Because I start my painting anew with an intuitive gesture and line before I pick my colors for the day, each new painting surprises me. I may lack a “sameness” that identifies an artist, that is often required by galleries. Yet I have consistencies: color, line, fluidity, passion, and patterns that come from the natural world. I love painting with vivid hues that blend, mix or contrast colors, but, at times, I return to the grounding tones and forms of earth, rock, water and sky that evoke landscapes of my childhood. Now at 82, I feel the pressure of time to express everything all at once and I have to remind myself at times to breathe, to reflect, to express unity and peace as well as passion and joy.
