Collection: SHOW: Turtle Dreams & Other Abstractions, 2023

November 2023

This show was my debut in Eugene, Oregon. Fourteen original acrylic paintings were displayed at the Community Cup Coffee. 901 Pearl Street, Eugene OR 97401.

Located in a vintage hotel downtown, Community Cup Coffee serves a variety of organic coffees and teas as well as delicious sandwiches and snacks with locally sourced ingredients. They generously feature a different local artist every month in their cozy dining room. Sip on organic coffee from Wandering Goat Coffee Roasters with a fresh-baked pastry and enjoy some local art.

Although almost all of these original pieces have now sold (many during this show), giclee prints are available to order. Thank you for your support Community Cup!

ARTIST STATEMENT

My present works are in acrylics, with some mixed media of pens and inks. I am inspired by nature and the ebb and flow of life through organic patterns such as rocks,  branches, water, and floral forms. I love the movement and flow of energy connecting or isolating objects through changes in color and pattern, shadows/light, warmth/coolness. When I allow my subconscious into the painting process, I reconnect to nature in its intimacy and expansiveness, longings and limitations. Often, I find myself in a kind of dream state as I coax shapes and forms out of material. My work is generally abstracted, filtered through my experiences and memories, but I often surprise myself by discovering new structures, new relationships. Painting for me is both a process of discovery and healing.
